A note from the editors

Why Mania, and not the other 400 sites.

You already know the other sites. The ones that load a chapter on top of a chapter, then ask you to sit through six redirect chains before the next page paints. The ones whose "related" sidebar is a fever dream of pop-unders and malware payloads. The ones that index 80,000 dead links and call it an archive.

Hentai Mania exists because we got tired of them too. We are 28 full-time staff and 41 contributing curators, sitting in offices in San Francisco and Akihabara, reading what we publish, taking down what doesn't clear our guidelines within an average of 11 minutes, and arguing about translation choices in a shared document at 2 a.m. our time. We index 184,317 series across 240 tags. We typeset roughly 300 chapters a week — the highest throughput in the indie doujinshi space, and we still typeset them ourselves.

We do not promise you a number of "daily updates." We do not name licensed publishers we haven't worked with. We do not run the verification flows we haven't built. What we do promise is the thing the older tube sites forgot how to do: an archive that respects the reader and the artist at the same time. Welcome. Pull up a chair.
